I’m glad you found your way to my site, but please use caution before jumping in and doing anything I might suggest here.
My primary use for this site is as a ‘brain drop‘ for myself. I don’t mind if you read through my notes, and I sincerely hope you find something useful. I also hope, however, that you exercise caution, and thoroughly read up on any command or suggestion I might have if you’re unfamiliar with it. What works for me, with my hardware and software, might not work for you and could have disastrous results.
My target audience is me, or someone like me with a similar understanding of computers, the Internet, and networking. I do enjoy helping less-experienced users whenever I can, and I do try to include explanations in my posts. That being said the explanations might seem cryptic to less-experienced users. Likewise, I know I have plenty to learn and they may seem tedious or naive to more experienced users.
While I am an experienced user, I would not call myself an expert. If I say something incorrect or imprecise (I certainly will, and likely have) feel free to let me know. I learn something new every day and will try to correct any mistakes in my posts. If you need more details about a process or command, I’ll do my best to answer any question. Rather than wait for me to answer, howver, your favorite search engine is your friend, as it is mine.
I am a computer/IT professional since 2000, and have been a computer hobbiest or enthusiest all of my life. I am primarily a hardware, server, and networking guy. HTML & websites have never been ‘my thing. I will date myself a bit with this, but I remember having a conversation on IRC (bonus points for anyone who knows that that is) with someone who told me about this ‘new thing’ on the internet called HTML(web) pages. At this friends suggestion, I installed my first web-browser (Netscape) and was thoroughly unimpressed. I predicted at that time that this HTML (web) page stuff would never survive. I’m starting to think I just may be proven wrong on that prediction.
Why Itchy? Once I described my desire to be a better / different person as an ‘itch’ i felt. This was mostly related to me coming to grips with my homosexuality. When I wanted to play around with thew newfangled thing called ‘web pages’ I wanted to use my own domain. The tld ‘itch’ was already taken so I fell back to ‘Itchy’.
Thanks for visiting, I hope you find something useful.
